1. What is a euro cylinder lock?
Euro cylinder lock, also refers to euro profile lock cylinder, working with euro mortise locks. It is the core component of a locking mechanism, often referred to as the “heart” of the lock. It’s where the key is inserted and turned to lock and unlock the device. The cylinder typically contains pins, springs, and other components that align with the key’s notches to allow the lock to turn.
2. How to measure a euro lock cylinder?
To measure a euro cylinder lock, take measurement from the center of the screw hole to the edge of the door lock cylinder on both sides. The sum of these two measurements should equal the overall length of the cylinder. For example, a 35/35 measurement would indicate an 70mm total length.
3. How does a euro cylinder lock work?
Euro cylinder locks incorporate a series of pins of varying lengths to ensure that the lock remains secure until the correct key is inserted. The correct key aligns these pins, enabling the lock to turn and activate or deactivate the locking mechanism. The number of pins can vary, with a higher number of pins typically means enhanced security.
